Yes, Climate Change and Global Warming are different phenomenon from each other even though they are interconnected to each other.

Climate Change refers to the broader range of climatic changes occurring on our planet. It encompasses Global Warming along with

  • Rising Sea Levels
  • Shrinking Mountain Glaciers
  • Accelerating Ice Melt
  • Shifts in flower/plant blooming times
  • Change in Season Duration
  • Fluctuating Monsoons

Most of the climatic changes are a result of global warming which is caused by several human activities (mainly burning fossil fuels).

On the other hand, Global Warming refers to the rise in temperature of the planet over a long term. Global temperatures have been well documented over the years showing rise in temperatures since the early 20th century. Major spikes were noticed distinctively since 1970’s.

Average rise in temperature since 1880 = 1 °C or 2 °F
